hmm... I was so worried about you being sad that a stranger hated you, that I might have just left two nearly-identical, overwritten comments. I'm not sure how this works, sorry!

Well okay, I don't hate you. I actually quite like you, never even having met...

That's why, sitting here in bored in Belgium, an ice pack on my broken foot, as the best project of my (dance) career tours without me, I was happily trolling through your blog, when I came across the brilliant "everything I ever needed to know I learned from dance movies."

1. If you’re naturally good at something, you’ll break your foot and never be able to do it again.

I might have cried a little.

But I'll admit that I'm just another one of your secret admirers, and not harboring some irrational hatred towards a stranger.

(Are there any dance movies where the good girl gets injured, misses performances, slogs through months of physical therapy. and then triumphs in the end?)

technically they should still ask for your permission to reprint anything off of your blog. but you know how journalistic integrity has reached new heights over the past couple of years.

Nope - they didn't tell me. When I read that blog column I usually wonder about whether people get submitted or paid - apparently neither. But it was just publicity, so why not. If they started taking my work regularly then yeah, I might have a problem, but posting an excerpt - whatever.

They really didn't tell you?

Not that you are complaining about the publicity, but I wonder if there is some sort of copyright breach. I mean, in theory, don't you have a right to not allow someone to physically reproduce your intellectual property?

I much more familiar with music and sound recording copyright stuff, thanks to my job, but isn't there similar stuff with printed material?

Awesome! I was just telling Shawn that I might switch to word press for my site so I came here to look at how hot your pictures were again. But I find something even hotter. Wahoo!

Wow, that's great! You're famous! Well, you have been for some time, but now you're more famous.
So did Metro drop you a line, "congratulations, you're blog is featured in our paper today?" Don't you wonder who picks? Does this person just read blogs all day?

My bad. I was so blind with rage that I didn't read carefully enough. Boo the Metro! Quit stealing web content for your print publication. And, Yay, AM NY! Your sudoku puzzles are a delight to commuters from all boroughs.

Yes they did, Matt - but it was the Metro. So, Boo Metro, if you're going to go that way with it.
