YAT 14-15

Year of Awesome Things, in which I do at least one awesome thing every week.

The past 2 weeks I have been in LA, doing my show. It was super great and awesome fun, and I’ll just rattle off some awesome points….

LA Pals! - I got to visit with a bunch of awesome friends I haven’t seen in a long time, including my friend Alice and my cousin Chris, both of whom let me stay with them for a week each. At Alice’s place there’s a sweet drumkit and recording studio, and at Chris’s there’s a pool and a dog - so, I lucked out both weeks.

Universal Studios -Â My friend Justin and I went to Universal Studios theme park. The Mummy ride was great, the Backdraft event/show/thing sucked. Children were SCREAMING crying they hated it so much (yet the parents still would not let them leave. Really? It is that important that your child experience the Backdraft fire show?). We also got to ride the Back To The Future ride before they closed it for good at the end of the summer. RIP, BTF.

Dodgers -Â Gregor and I hit up a Dodgers game. That stadium is beautifully landscaped from the outside -it looks like Jurassic park. We ate ice cream and hot dogs and yelled at the shitty pitchers (oof, so bad.) and generally had an awesome time. Also, the man sitting in front of us was either a cowboy, a warlock, or a pirate. Or all three. This never happens at Shea Stadium.

Dresden - I got to hang out at the Dresden - that cabaret place with the old couple that sings standards that you see in lots of movies? Yeah, that one. It was pretty great.

The Beach - I went a lot. Like, bathing-suit-in-my-glove-compartment-at-all-times a lot. This is very unlike me. Anyway, I think I preferred the grimy gaudiness of Venice to the fat children of Santa Monica. Next time: Malibu!

My Show -Â My show went well both times. My wonderful friends came out and supported me - some of them even came twice. I got a bunch of industry people to see it, and they liked it, and everyone kissed me on the top of the head and called me pretty afterwards. Sort of. Just about. Anyways - it went well.
