YAT - weeks 5-6
Oops.
Yeah, so…I missed last week’s update. Only a month in and already flaking - doesn’t bode well. But really the week was a bust. My totally awesome plans kept falling through - it was a jinxed week. But the next one, week 6 was pretty great.
1) 48 Hour Film Project - I made my first real scripted short film, and I did it in just 2 days as part of the 48 Hour Film Project. Not only that, but I had a super team of really remarkably talented people working with me. Obviously I’m biased, but I think it’s a pretty great film, too. Sure, it’s not absolutely perfect - there were a few snags along the way (most notably getting locked out of our location and having to comlpetely replan and move our shoot at the last minute). But that kind of stuff is par for the course in 48 hours. Also it was really amazing how all these people came through for me - I was blown away by how supportive everyone was, and as I said before, crazy talented. I am lucky to have the friends I’ve got.
2) I Eat Pandas back on top - after a few rushed shows without much planning or publicity, Glennis and I were starting to get a little weary. For Saturday’s show (yes, Saturday in the middle of the 48 HFP; yes, I took a break from the film to do a musical improv show on 2 hours of sleep.) we made sure to rehearse and promote like responsible performer/producers, and it paid off. The house was packed and the show was a blast! It doesn’t hurt that the suggestion was “Unicorn”. Can’t get much better than that.
