Le tigre solitaire
More Zoo News!

It’s bad enough to be a tiger in a man’s world, but to be a french-speaking tiger in Edmonton, Alberta sounds even worse. The Edmonton zoo got a 7-year-old Siberian Tiger named Boris from Quebec, and found him to be shy and depressed. Eventually one of the keepers tried speaking to the tiger in French and he perked up and started responding. Now they are asking French-speakers to come by and talk to him.
This is so sad! And adorable!
This lonely tiger just wants people to come speak French to him! And he’s not a magical tiger, so he can’t understand what they are saying, he just needs to hear it. Awww!
My favorite part of the article is this, though:
“Boris, who is neutered, is currently keeping company with an elderly, 18-year-old female Siberian tiger named Rachelle.”
Now I want to pitch it as a sitcom.

Maybe he’s depressed because he’s neutered… not because he misses Francophones

Maybe he’s neutered because he’s French.
